Getting started with Java

Java is a popular programming language in the programming community it is known for its performance in various fields, it is an open-source project owned by Oracle co-operation which was later acquired from Sun-microsystems.
Java was launched at mid 90's in the year 1995. It was created to build stand-alone applications and later it was used in web programming to design webpages and to create websites mostly for functionality more than the design.
Later on, java is used to create stand-alone mobile applications like calculator, unit converter, and later on it was used to develop mobile games and graphical user interface or GUI.
Nowadays, most of the banking and finance related applications are built on top of java which are reliable as well as secure.
Java is a secure programming language as it converts its source code into the byte code which makes it hard to understand in which JVM or Java Virtual Machine plays a significant role. JVM allows the developer to securely share the source code to other platform because of its platform independency.
Java is available for every platform i.e. Mac, Linux, Windows etc and it's also free to use and learn. If you want to get started you can simply refer to Oracle's documentation https://www.oracle.com/java/ and simply download the JavaSE known as Java Standard Edition which comes with a package called JDK or Java Development Kit.
